Mapping senses

For both my walks I followed the same path Starting at my House at 1332 N Highland Ave and walking to just past the Biological Sciences West Building. I took the Same Route for both of my walks. the map below shows the way that I walked.

For my first walk I focused on the noises that heard that were loud and attention grabbing. Sound is something that often turns my head and i find many noises that most find unpleasant to be interesting to listen to. So I decided to follow my ears for this first walk. Many of these noises were not natural and often turned my head during my walk often making wonder where the noise was coming from.  Below is a youtube video containing all of the videos of the noises I heard on my first walk. Every recording is in the one video.
For my second walk I decided to take a more visual approach and document every spot or obstacle i walked by that would be fun to skate on so when doing my walk I kept an eye out for interesting and fun things i would like to ride my skate board on. some of the obstacles are much more conventional and some are not but i always enjoy going around and looking for creative places to go skateboarding.

  1. Hey Elijah, I think focusing on obstacles that you could ride your skateboard on is a really fun take on this assignment! Honestly, I kind of wish I could have done something similar on my walk, but instead done things that would be fun to draw.

  2. Your visual focus is really engaging! It would be cool to hear more about how specific obstacles inspire tricks or creative movement.

  3. Hey Elijah, it was cool to see you take a place that we may always walk through during the school year, and find depth within it and use all your senses. I lived your use of mixed media.
