I Walk in Your Name
Recently someone form back home on Oahu died. He was a Coach and a teacher to many people in our community. He taught some of our parents and us and recently passed away. So for this walk I decided to walk for him especially seeing everyone back home get together to celebrate his life. We saw him walking around the stores and the beaches always stoic. So for this walk I simply wanted to remember the times and some of the things that Mats taught and coached. I wanted to remember the good and the bad times and everything in between. I decided for this walk as well I would walk to the gym since thats where I would often find Mats. Mats was always pushing for people to live a more active lifestyle as well so this seemed appropriate as well. the path was pretty a straight line to which embodies how he was often with how he spoke and acted, straight to the point. Below is the route I took the gym I walked there and back along the same route.
I really appreciate how personal and heartfelt this walk was. Honoring Mats through a physical journey to the gym is a beautiful way to reflect on his influence. One suggestion would be to deepen the reflection by describing how the walk felt emotionally and physically. Did memories of him affect your pace or mindset? Also, since you mentioned that he was straightforward in how he spoke and acted, you could explore how that was mirrored in your environment. Was the path quiet, busy, or focused in a way that reminded you of him?
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteGoing on this walk for Mats was such a nice, meaningful way to remember him. I like how your walk to the gym connected to who coach Mats was and what he stood for. One suggestion to further connect to him could be to bring something with you that reminds you of him or to describe things along your walk that connect to him. It could make the walk feel even more personal. Still, this was a really thoughtful tribute and a great way of honoring him!
