Final project

For my project i wanted to do a public performance so I decided to go to public commercial places and frolic. I choose frolic because it is a extremely light hearted and funny activity. I went to places that sold lots of goods mostly places that sold material items. I wanted to go somewhere that capitalism is apparent and Waikiki is definitely a place that capitalizes on tourists.  The whole area is built to make money off the tourists. I wanted to do it in these areas because one of the ideas presented is that capitalism steals creativity and play from people. so doing something light hearted and goofy in a place like this to try and reclaim it was the plan. I  had some issues filming with security which made it difficult to get extended footage of the action and was ask to leave most locations. I was able to get enough footage i think though. I feel that my actions display effectively what i am trying to communicate and the fact i was getting. asked to leave thes...

Final project proposal

1. Public places are great for a lot of things, shopping, walking Etc. So why not frolic in these  places as well. These commercial areas have norms and such but frolicking does nothing but bring people happiness and remind them to smile. So i will be going to public commercial areas and frolicking breaking some of these norms and trying to get people to smile or even join in.     2.  For my final project I will go to the most commercial spaces I can find in where I am at and will dance and frolic around the spaces to.  It is simple yet I think it is an effective manner to inject some life and something out of the ordinary to these places. often being places that take them selves to seriously I feel that this breaks the norms of these places.  3. Previous Public performance - https://youtu.be/7m1EB2TcTbw 4. my plan for this project is to go to spaces that are populated and used for commercial uses and frolic around and dance. there is social norms...

Witnessing each other.

I found the second walk or performance from this unit to be interesting simple because i did not get nearly as many reactions as i thought i would. it was something i was prepared for but not expecting.  I feel this really adresses how we are getting stuck in our own boxes and not as ready to openly interact with our fellow people. I feel technology is playing a big role in this as well. we are less and less willing to reach out and actually speak to people and it is weird to me. people prefer texts over calls and i know many people who prefer self checkouts or order kiosk so they do not have to talk to anyone.  I feel this exercise really pointed that out. I also feel like the walk from the last module related to this as well because of how we put ourselves into a cocoon we are closing our self off from the rest of the world. it is something that is quite sad to see happening and it something we are slowly seeing more and more of. I feel there needs to be more self expr...

walk within daily life

For this exercise I would raise my left when interacting with anything. Whether this was a conversation, or opening i would raise my left hand above my head. I did this at varying speeds throughout the day. When doing it the presences of my friends i do not think they really thought to much of it. they see me do odd things around our house everyday and probably just took it as something like that. But when interacting with people i did not know or even people I did not know as well I got some strange looks when doing this. I wen t to the grocery and did it every time i picked something up and interacted with anything. Not to many people ever asked me about why I was doing these things either. I think 3-4 people even asked me why i was doing it all day,  That was one thing i thought I would get more of when doing this. My arm did get very tired throughout the course of the day. I found this to be a fun and interesting performance but i did not get the reactions I thought.  I gu...
