Project1: Ephemeral, Site and Social Space

The site chosen for my first project was this strange playground by my house. I simply placed rocks on top of the varying structures because if the structures were to be used the rocks would have to be taken off. Everything was easily found in the area and when moved the piece will return to being part of the environment that it came from again.

  1. I like the simplistic route you chose, but it would have been interesting to see other items used. I would have been curious to see how the equipment would look covered up by tree branches being hidden away from public view!

  2. What made you chose the playground? Like how did it gravitate towards you. That's pretty interesting though to place rocks as it really is temporarily until the point that someone will eventually move it out of it's place. They could possibly kick it or just place it on the ground or even just leave it there. I feel like it would of been pretty neat to get a few different angles of the area, but I am a big fan of the blue.

  3. I would love to hear about the connection between this specific playground and the placement of the rocks. This concept is really interesting though because the idea of placing a natural item somewhere and leaving it not knowing how long it will last there. And with rocks specifically they will only move from their placement if like you said they are picked up by someone else. With the images, if there was a way to photograph them so you can see the rocks better that would be great!
